Susan Aiello, ASID, CID, LEED AP
Susan Aiello combines design excellence and expertise with social purpose and ecological responsibility. As a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), she is knowledgeable about the products and procedures that improve the indoor environment and conserve natural resources. She helps make it easier to be green by writing a blog on sustainable design and is active in the New York Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Ms. Aiello is certified to practice interior design by the State of New York and the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). She is a professional member of ASID and former president of its New York Metropolitan Chapter, as well as a professional affiliate of the New York Chapter of the AIA.

Ms. Aiello is known for interiors that perfectly reflect her clients – the missions and core values of her not-for-profit clients, the brands of her professional and commercial clients and the lifestyles and personalities of her residential clients. She has lectured at NeoCON on "Branding Through Interior Design" and has created specialized interiors for product launches for Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, Rubenstein Associates and "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart". Ms. Aiello is particularly skilled at designing interiors for not-for-profit clients that appeal strongly to donors, as well as to those who use the interiors, often while working within strict requirements for durability, value engineering, code compliance and ease of maintenance. Not-for-profit and governmental clients include Stern College for Women, Cardozo Law School, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the U.S. Army Space Command Center and the International Longshoremen's Association.

Residential interior design projects often involve renovation and custom furniture design. Ms. Aiello has a particular facility for incorporating modern conveniences into older homes while preserving and enhancing their original character.

Depending upon the scope of the project and her client's preferences, Ms. Aiello is able to either provide a complete range of design services, including space planning, or to function seamlessly as part of a multi-disciplinary project team. All drawings are done in AutoCAD, which greatly facilitates collaboration with architects, engineers, lighting designers and other design professionals, as well as communication with contractors.

Ms. Aiello has written for national publications, appeared on television and cruise ships and lectured at museums, professional associations and schools. Books in which she is featured include Brunschwig & Fils Up Close, Spectacular Small Kitchens (for which she contributed a chapter), Take Charge of Your Home Renovation, The Home Office Bible: Real-Life Design Dilemmas & Solutions, SHOWHOUSES: signature designer styles, and Delicious by Design: Architects and Designers in the Kitchen.
